FALL 2015
This course is comprised of 18 graphic designers and 18 advertising photographers working on interdisciplinary teams to write, design and shoot a series of articles for possible inclusion in the 100 page Positive/Negative Magazine. This volume received a National ADDY Gold Award for Outstanding Student Publication, and ADDY Awards from the Rochester Advertising Federation: Gold for Magazine,Gold for article called Fast Fashion, Silver Awards for articles titled The Dad Bod, Pink Tax, Rebel with
a Cause, and Cultural Isolation. This volume also won Platinum/Best in Category from the 46th Annual Creativity International Awards.

WEGMANS YOGURT AND ORANGE JUICE PACKAGE
DESIGN COMPETITIONS
FALL 2015
This course is comprised of 15 graphic designers, 15 industrial designers and
15 packaging science students working on interdisciplinary teams to create new packaging solutions for sponsoring companies. Wegmans was the sponsor of this competition to design new packaging for yogurt and orange juice. 2 yogurt winning teams, 2 orange juice winning teams from 8 interdisciplinary team submissions.

PAPERBOARD PACKAGING ALLIANCE 2016
STUDENT DESIGN CHALLENGE
SPRING 2016
This course is comprised of graphic designers with assistance from industrial designers and packaging science students. This national university competition includes the top 17 packaging design programs in the U.S., each of whom submits a number individual and team concepts to the competition. Each year, the Alliance creates a brief for all participating individuals and teams to explore. This brief prompted participants to create an upscale, multi-faceted package for dry goods. One of our teams, L'Orto Organic Pasta, received Second Place honors. Nature Valley Wild Crunch cereal is runner-up, and LeSel Chocolate Pretzel Wands received a "shout-out" from the Alliance. Final results were announced at PACKEXPO in Chicago in November.

2015 ADOBE DESIGN ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS COMPETITION
SPRING 2016
This course is comprised of 16 graphic designers and 16 illustrators working on interdisciplinary teams to write, design and illustrate a series of magazine spreads, the best of which are sent to the Adobe Design Achievement Awards Competition. Two designer/illustrator teams have received Semi-finalist honors: Off With Their Heads, by Andrea Montealegre and Lydia Sharp, and Madonna and Child, by Jose Gil and Josh Saeli. Semi-finalists move on to the finalist level of the competition.

This volume received ADDY Awards from the Rochester Advertising Federation:
Gold for cover design, Gold for interior design and Silver for a spread called
Mass Surveillance. Also won Addy District 12 Gold Awards for interior and National Addy Gold Award for Student Publication Design. Also won Honorable Mention in Communication Arts Photography Annual 2014, Best in Show for student publications, Creativity International Awards 44th Annual Print and Packaging Competition. Entries from 41 countries. In addition, this volume was a Semi-finalist in the 2014 Adobe Design Achievement Awards and also received Best in Show for Student Work
in the AIGA New York State of Design Competition, 2014.
